In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel designed a fragrance that transcended the very essence of perfume to capture the modernity that the designer wished to offer to women. And so, N°5 was born. In 2021, the Fine Jewellery Creation Studio adopted the same instinctive approach that inspired Mademoiselle. The challenge lied in translating the story of N°5 into the exquisite language of high jewellery. Very early on, the idea of a piece centred around an exceptional stone came to the fore, and after several months of research, a rare rough diamond capable of fully capturing this vision was selected.
The approach towards the central DFL Type IIa diamond of exceptional quality was entirely unprecedented – starting with the rough stone, the goal was not to achieve the greatest possible weight, but to bring a creative vision to life. Custom-cut to weigh exactly 55.55 carats, this extraordinary stone evokes the purity of the famous bottle and epitomises the CHANEL style.
