An imaginary
voyage

Throughout her life, Gabrielle Chanel developed a passion for Chinese lacquer screens. They made her dream of faraway landscapes, and still adorn the walls of her apartment at 31, rue Cambon in Paris. The one in her office depicts the city of Hangzhou, China, and its legendary lake.

This is where the 2024/25 Métiers d’art collection was unveiled, taking on the journey that Gabrielle Chanel was never able to complete. An invitation to an imaginary voyage, the collection reveals precious and romantic silhouettes, shrouded in mystery.

FROM PARIS
TO HANGZHOU

On the occasion of the 2024/25 Métiers d’art show in Hangzhou, China, last December, director Wim Wenders imagined a contemporary and poetic journey through the Coromandel screens so dear to Gabrielle Chanel in a film starring House ambassadors Tilda Swinton, Xin Zhilei, and Leah Dou.
