Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen (född och bosatt i Singapore) arbetar med animering, video, scenkonst och installation. Han anpassar och omarbetar myter och historier för att ifrågasätta hur verklighet och historia framställs.
Mycket av hans arbete har en koppling till Singapore – en före detta brittisk koloni som har omvandlats till en mångkulturell östat. Utöver Singapore har Ho även börjat införliva myter och historier från andra kulturer i Sydostasien och Östasien.
“Jag vet inte vad nästa steg i mitt konstnärliga arbete är”, säger han. ”Men jag ser fram emot att omfamna det med fler möjligheter tack vare detta pris”.
Ho representerade Singapore vid den 54:e upplagan av Venedigbiennalen och har även anordnat separatutställningar på Toyota Municipal Museum of Art i Japan (2021), Yamaguchi Centre for Arts and Media i Japan (2021), Kunstverein Hamburg i Tyskland (2018), Guggenheim Museum i Bilbao i Spanien (2015) och Mori Art Museum i Tokyo (2012).
Surveyutställningen Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger skildrar hans verk från två årtionden och öppnades på Singapore Art Museum 2023. Utställningen kommer i år att gästa Art Sonje Center i Seoul och Hessel Museum of Art i New York, och lite senare även Mudam Contemporary Art Museum of Luxembourg år 2025. Han har även skapat separatutställningen A for Agents som visas på Museum of Contemporary Art i Tokyo från april 2024.
“CHANEL Next Prize har gjort mig starkare”, säger han. ”Det har uppmuntrat mig att tänja på gränserna inför nästa steg”.
