“SANTO SOSPIR, MAURO RESTIFFE / JEAN COCTEAU”
AT THE NOUVEAU MUSÉE NATIONAL DE MONACO,
WITH THE SUPPORT OF CHANEL
The House of CHANEL is proud to support the “Santo Sospir, Mauro Restiffe / Jean Cocteau” exhibition, from June 13th to October 15th at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco - Villa Sauber.
Jean Cocteau was Gabrielle Chanel's close friend and a multi-talented avant-garde artist: a poet, playwright, filmmaker, painter and illustrator. Jean Cocteau composed several text portraits of Gabrielle Chanel that were published in the press and wrote her beautiful letters, whereas she designed the costumes for five of Cocteau's plays, including “Antigone” (1922), “Le Train Bleu” (1924) and “Orphée” (1926).
CHANEL is delighted to accompany the daydream inspired by Santo Sospir, the extraordinary villa "tattooed" by Jean Cocteau in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat – just a few kilometres from La Pausa, Gabrielle Chanel's villa in Roquebrune-Cap Martin.
