Ready-to-wear
Season after season, collection after collection, CHANEL reveals new facets of the allure. Please find below tips to preserve your garment:
Care instructions
WEARING IT
Some exceptional pieces and materials such as silk, cashmere, satin, tweed or muslin are delicate and need special care when you handle and wear them.
PRESERVING THEM
Your CHANEL creation was made with the utmost savoir-faire and attention. It is recommended to store your garment in a ventilated and temperature regulated place, on a hanger and in the cotton dressing cover given provided at purchase, which will protect it from friction while ensuring the fabric breathes. Knitwear will be best protected when folded and placed inside its pouch. Finally, make sure to keep enough space between your pieces in your closet to avoid any friction or colour transfer, in particular with denims and leathers.
EMBROIDERED PIECES
The embroidery on your garment is among one of the most delicate details. When transporting it, avoid folding on the embroidery. This way, you will not risk damaging it, marking the cloth or breaking the threads, sequins or other elements. Store your embroidered garment in its cover, place it flat, ensuring it is not weighed down by other pieces.
ENJOYING IT
Each CHANEL garment is created thanks to our ateliers’ exceptional savoir-faire that ensures the perfect fit. If needed, your CHANEL boutique will be able to alter your garment in order to make it fit your silhouette perfectly.
TAKING CARE OF IT
The care instructions provided on the labels will enable you to preserve the beauty of your garments as long as possible. If you stain your piece, don’t hesitate to reach out to your CHANEL boutique for any questions and quickly leave it to a care professional. After a dry cleaning service, remember to take the piece out of the plastic cover and to ventilate it before storing it.
TRANSPORTING IT
Take care of the way you transport them. The covers or protections that are provided at purchase will protect your pieces, whether folded or on a hanger.

WEARING THEM
Each CHANEL shoe is crafted with the utmost care and following a semi-artisanal tradition, they thus meet all of the House’s quality standards. As luxury items, they require regular care and maintenance to stand the test of time beautifully.
To preserve your shoes, CHANEL invites you to follow the recommendations below:
PRESERVING THEIR SHAPE
To preserve the quality and shape of your shoes, place them back in their original packaging, making sure to put back the tissue paper shoe trees placed inside the shoes, and let them air out.
Keep them in a dry place, away from humidity and strong temperature variations.
For slingbacks, avoid using shoe trees that could apply too much pressure, especially on the back strap.
PRESERVING THEIR MATERIAL
Soft leather: We recommend applying a neutral polish once a month, a colourless one is recommended to avoid staining, especially for two-tone shoes. Apply it using gentle circular motions and shine the leather with a soft, clean and undyed cloth.
Patent leather: Clean your patent leather shoes using gentle, circular motions with a soft, non-abrasive shoe sponge dampened with clear water and a drop of neutral soap. Wipe them dry with a soft, clean cloth.
Lambskin or calfskin suede: Gently brush suede leathers using a dry shoe sponge or a special suede cloth, smoothing the fibres in the same direction. Lamb or calf suede is particularly sensitive to liquids, stains, and colour migration. In case of stains, first use fine-grit sandpaper. If your shoes have been wet, dab them dry with an absorbent, non-pilling cloth. Make sure not to store them near a heat source or expose them directly to sunlight.
Metallic leathers: Metallic leathers are made using a special process which consists of a laminated coating. Consequently, they are particularly sensitive to solvents and alcohol, which may damage the surface finishing. We also recommend avoiding any scratching and excessive abrasion. Please note that some natural creasing might happen with use and repeated flexing.
Fabric: Our iconic fabrics such as tweed, satin, velvet and special fabrics are sensitive to liquids, heat and light exposure. Any rubbing and scratching should be avoided.
Dust these shoes using an uncoloured, soft, and clean cloth. Remove the dust with gentle motions, then let them rest in the open air.
ENJOYING THEM
Make sure to use a shoehorn systematically; to avoid breaking the heel counter, it is a fragile part that cannot be mended.
TAKING CARE OF THEM
Make sure to regularly apply a neutral polish to your soft leather shoes (such as kidskin or lambskin) using a soft, undyed cloth. Avoid any product that could damage the finish, and do not hesitate to ask for advice in the boutique if needed.
Leather is a natural material and needs neutral polish once a month, whether you wear your shoes or not.
PROTECTING THEM
In case of rain, make sure to dry your wet shoes by gently dabbing them with a soft, uncolored, and lint-free cloth.
If you need to apply a waterproofing layer, don’t hesitate to come to the boutique. Do not store them near a heat source or expose them directly to sunlight to preserve the colour and prevent the leather from shrinking.

Handbags
A CHANEL handbag meets the highest quality and technical standards.
Many steps — some inspired by ready-to-wear techniques — are required to create this unique luxury accessory. To safeguard the beauty of your handbag, CHANEL recommends:
Care instructions
PRESERVING IT
You can store your bag inside the pouch when not in use and preferably store upright. Ideally wrap it in tissue paper; wrap up the straps or chains and store them inside the bag to prevent them from leaving marks on the leather exterior. Materials that are particularly sensitive to chain markings: suede and nubuck leathers.
PRESERVING ITS SHAPE
Leathers selected by CHANEL are rigorously checked for tensile strength and tension; however, they are still considered to be delicate products. Try not to over-fill your handbag to help preserve its shape year after year.
PRESERVING ITS COLOR
We recommend avoiding contact between your light-coloured leather handbag and dark clothing to protect it from potential colour transfer.
Conversely, dark coloured leather can stain lighter fabrics materials. Lambskin leather, patent leather, suede and nubuck leathers, fabrics (jersey, tweed, etc.) are particularly sensitive to colour transfer.
PRESERVING THE MATERIAL
Some precious and delicate materials are sensitive to repeated friction which could cause premature wear and tear, especially on the corners and edges. Lambskin leather, metallic leather, fabrics (jersey, tweed, etc.) are particularly sensitive to repeated friction.
We advise you not to expose leather to light (natural and artificial) or moisture for prolonged periods. If the item comes into contact with water, dab the leather dry with an absorbent non-pilling cloth.
Our lambskins: These exceptional leathers nevertheless require your full attention, so make sure to take special care of them. Rubbing the leather with small circular movements may help reduce the appearance of some superficial marks.
Jewelled bags, embroidered bags, sequins and rhinestones: we recommend avoiding prolonged contact and repeated friction with delicate fabrics such as woollens, silks and tweeds.
CHERISHING IT
We advise you to polish metal parts using a soft cloth. Any use of cleaning products may damage the finish of the hardware. Care or cleaning products (cream, wax, waterproofing agents, etc.) can also irreversibly alter the finish of the leather.
With normal use, it is natural for your product to develop a sheen over time.

Small Leather Goods
A CHANEL small leather good meets the highest standards of quality and technical precision. To safeguard the beauty of your small leather good, CHANEL recommends:
PRESERVING IT
For small leather goods with a chain, ideally fill them with tissue paper, wrap the straps or chains in it, and place them inside the piece to avoid leaving marks on the leather. Suede and nubuck leathers are particularly prone to chain markings.
PRESERVING ITS SHAPE
Leathers selected by CHANEL are rigorously checked for tensile strength and tension; however, they are still considered to be delicate materials. Do not over-fill your small leather good to help preserve its shape year after year. In particular, we recommend not storing more than one card in a single slot in wallets and card holders.
PRESERVING ITS COLOR
To protect your light-coloured item from colour transfer, avoid contact with dark-coloured clothing and bag linings (for example denim).
Conversely, dark-coloured leathers may transfer onto lighter materials.
Lambskin leather, patent leather, suede and nubuck leathers as well as fabrics (jersey, tweed, etc.) are particularly sensitive to colour transfer.
PRESERVING THE MATERIAL
Do not expose leather to light (natural and artificial) or moisture for prolonged periods.
If the item comes into contact with water, dab it dry with an absorbent non-pilling cloth. Also avoid any contact or friction with materials that could change the tint of the leather.
Some precious and delicate materials like lambskin, metallic leather and fabrics (jersey, tweed, etc.) are sensitive to repeated friction which could cause premature wear and tear, especially on the corners and edges.
Our lambskin leathers are treated as little as possible to preserve their natural suppleness and unique softness and feel. Please make sure to take particular care of this type of leather. Rubbing the lambskin with small circular movements may help reduce the appearance of some superficial marks.
Embroidery, sequins and rhinestones: we recommend avoiding prolonged contact and repeated friction with delicate fabrics such as woollens, silks and tweeds.
CHERISHING IT
Polish metal parts with a soft cloth.
Any use of cleaning products may damage the finish of the hardware. Care or cleaning products (cream, wax, waterproofing agents, etc.) can also irreversibly alter the finish of the leather.

COSTUME JEWELLERY
Like every CHANEL accessory, your jewellery piece is an ultimate luxury product that should be handled with care. We recommend following these instructions:
WEARING IT
Over time, exposure to air, moisture and contact with your skin may damage the shine on your piece, cause wear to the metal finish or affect the colouring and lustre of imitation pearls. We recommend the following:
• Avoid contact with water
• Avoid exposure to high temperatures or humidity
• Remove your jewellery when engaging in activity that may cause knocks or scratches, such as exercising
• Take off your jewellery when handling corrosive products
• Apply perfume and make-up before putting on jewellery: certain chemicals found in cosmetic products may discolour, stain or damage jewellery.
PRESERVING IT
Pieces of jewellery may scratch upon contact with one another. We strongly recommend that you store and transport your jewellery individually.
TAKING CARE OF IT
To preserve the shine on your jewellery, you may dust it with a soft cloth. Do not clean with water, soap, detergent, or any other chemical product or solution, as these could damage the metal finish or discolour the piece.
Over time, the thread in strings of pearls may loosen, increasing the risk of breakage. Should this happen, you may need to have your pearls rethreaded.

Eyewear
WEARING THEM
Your glasses have been meticulously assembled. Handle them with care, avoid wearing your eyewear on your head so as not to twist or stretch the temples. For maximum comfort, have your frame adjusted properly to fit your face.
PRESERVING THEM
When you are not wearing them, ensure your glasses are clean and dry, then store them in their case. Store them in a dry place between when the temperature remains stable between -10°C and 35°C.
ENJOYING THEM
We recommend that you always have two pairs of glasses to be well prepared for everyday surprises. Day after day, your frame will adapt to your body, suit your face, become unique and affirm your personality.
TAKING CARE OF THEM
To clean your glasses correctly, use fresh water and soap. Avoid using any solvents or alcohol. Gently dry the frame. If your glasses are composed of cloth, pearls, leather, etc., it is preferable to use a soft cloth.
PROTECTING THEM
Only frames in good condition will protect your eyes properly. Remember to store them in their case. Avoid any shocks that could break or damage the glasses or their effectiveness. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or artificial UV radiation.
