Kristen Stewart:
A Modern Muse

American actress and House ambassador Kristen Stewart is a recipient of this year’s Deauville Talent Awards. A former jury member of the Cannes Film Festival, Kristen entertains a long and unique relationship with the House, ever since she starred in her first Paris-Dallas 2013/2014 Métiers d’art campaign. From that moment, her unique personality and ever-evolving sense of style have been chosen to embody subsequent CHANEL campaigns, such as the 11.12 bag and the GABRIELLE bag, and the new beauty campaign for NOIR ET BLANC DE CHANEL. She was also the face of the GABRIELLE CHANEL fragrance. “It’s her real name, before she found Coco,” Kristen has said of founder Gabrielle Chanel. “A woman like that, who was trying to be different and trying to do things that people didn't necessarily view as beautiful and she challenged that.”

Much like Gabrielle Chanel, Kristen evokes today’s modern woman — enigmatic, keenly intelligent, with an audacious approach to fashion that sees her equally at ease in both show-stopping Haute Couture and more casual looks on the red carpet. Her strength of character led former artistic director Karl Lagerfeld to cast her as the young Coco in his short film, ‘Once and Forever’, which screened in Rome at the presentation of the 2015/2016 Métiers d’art collection, for which Kristen was also the face. The project cemented their rapport as muse and auteur: “Karl was an overwhelming prolific and multi-interested creative person, and to see him direct a movie was a trip because it was just innate,” said Kristen of the film. A fidèle at the CHANEL fashion shows in Paris and beyond, as shown here, Kristen’s star power continues to grow alongside her friendship with the House.
