Spring-Summer 2010 Ready-To-Wear

The Chanel Summer 2010 is one of bucolic and rural light-heartedness. For this cheerful fashion show, Karl Lagerfeld installed a reproduction of a farm scene complete with barn, haystacks, and flower garlands in the heart of the Grand Palais, using Fragonard’s artworks and Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet at Versailles as his inspiration. In this idyllic décor, the Chanel models appeared in step with the joyous rhythms of this country farandole, which ended in a surprise concert by Lily Allen, who appeared in a flowery cabin from underneath the set.

The dusted colors of this summer collection are like those of the show’s atmosphere, made up of natural whites, creams, beiges, but also pink, coral and pale orange. The dresses have transparent elements, muslin veils, and pleats which heighten the waistline and enhance the silhouette. Leather clogs with studded heels and small baskets adorned with flowers and ones made of wicker and hessian accessorize the silhouettes.
