CHANEL at the
Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Art

True to its commitment to widespread savoir-faire, CHANEL is taking part in the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art (European Artistic Craft Days) for the third year running. Taking place from 4th to 7th April 2024 at the Gobelins campus in Paris, the event aims to shine the spotlight on handcraftsmanship and creativity.

The event will offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the House and its history as well as the different fashion professions.

Participatory ateliers supervised by experienced CHANEL couturières and couturiers will teach sewing techniques. A dedicated space to le19M — founded by CHANEL in Paris/Aubervilliers — will offer the chance to try your hand at a collective embroidery project. Maisons d'art Lesage, Atelier Montex as well as Eres will also be present to showcase their savoir-faire, alongside renowned schools Duperré, la Source, Paul Poiret, Octave Feuillet and the Institut Français de la Mode.

le19M was created to foster vocations and transmit exceptional artisanal savoir-faire, and brings under one roof 700 artisans and experts in eleven Maisons d'art and is also home to its multidisciplinary and open to all space, la Galerie du 19M.

The exhibition “Entrez en matière”, devoted to the gestures and savoir-faire of the Métiers d'Art will be on view throughout the event.

Admission at the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art is free.

CHANEL supports the exhibition
“Exteriors – Annie Ernaux and Photography”

As a partner of the exhibition “Exteriors - Annie Ernaux & Photography”, presented at the MEP - Maison Européenne de la Photographie, from February 28th to May 26th 2024, CHANEL reaffirms its commitment to support arts and literature.

Under the direction of curator Lou Stoppard and with the help of Victoria Aresheva, curator at the MEP, the exhibition draws a parallel between writings by Annie Ernaux and works from renowned photographers such as Harry Callahan, Claude Dityvon, Dolorès Marat, Daido Moriyama, Janine Niepce, Issei Suda, Henry Wessel and Bernard Pierre Wolff.

Taking as its starting point extracts from Annie Ernaux's book Exteriors (Journal du Dehors) (1993), the exhibition, conceived as a stroll between words and images, pays tribute to to the writer who has “tried to apply a photographic writing of reality, in which intertwined lives would keep their opacity and mystery.”
