Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen (født og basert i Singapore) jobber på tvers av animasjon, video, performancekunst og installasjon. Han tilegner seg og gjenskaper myter og historier for å stille spørsmål ved hvordan virkeligheter og historier fremstilles.
Mye av arbeidet hans er knyttet til Singapore, en tidligere britisk koloni som nå er en multikulturell øystat. Fra Singapore har Ho begynt å innarbeide myter og historier fra andre kulturer i Sørøst-Asia og Øst-Asia.
«Den neste fasen i min kunstneriske praksis er ukjent,» sier han. «Men jeg er glad for å kunne kaste meg ut i det med den økte kapasiteten som denne prisen har muliggjort.»
Ho representerte Singapore på den 54. utgaven av Venezia-biennalen, og han har hatt separatutstillinger på Toyota Municipal Museum of Art i Japan (2021), Yamaguchi Centre for Arts and Media i Japan (2021), Kunstverein Hamburg i Tyskland (2018), Guggenheim-museet i Bilbao i Spania (2015) og Mori Art Museum i Tokyo (2012).
En oversiktsutstilling, med tittelen Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger, som spenner over to tiår av arbeidet hans, åpnet på Singapore Art Museum i 2023. Utstillingen reiser i år til Art Sonje Center i Seoul og Hessel Museum of Art i New York, før den drar videre til Mudam Contemporary Art Museum i Luxembourg i 2025. Han har også en soloutstilling kalt A for Agents, som åpner på Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo i april 2024.
«CHANEL Next Prize har styrket meg,» sier han. «Det har oppmuntret meg til å strekke meg enda litt lenger mot mitt neste mål.»
