Zanger en creator
Davone Tines (geboren in Virginia, woont en werkt in Baltimore, VS) is zanger, creator en curator en werkt als bas-bariton in theater en opera.
De kracht van zijn stem en de conventies doorbrekende aard van zijn optredens bevorderen de klassieke muziek.
Tines treedt op op het snijpunt van opera, volksliederen, spirituele en gospelmuziek om een diep persoonlijk verhaal van doorzettingsvermogen en menselijke verbondenheid te vertellen.
Hij debuteerde in Carnegie Hall in New York met Recital No.1: MASS (2022). Hij trad ook op als de gevangenbewaarder in Prisoner of the State van David Lang (2020) in het Barbican, Londen, en co-creëerde en trad op in The Black Clown (2019), een bewerking van het gedicht van Langston Hughes, in het Lincoln Center, ook in New York.
Hij ontving een Sphinx Medal of Excellence in 2020, was een National Education Association Human and Civil Rights Awards Honoree in 2020 en ontving de Lincoln Center’s Emerging Artist Award in 2018. Hij werd in 2019 uitgeroepen tot een Next Generation Leader van Time magazine.
Hij treedt wereldwijd op, waaronder onlangs met de New York Philharmonic en Los Angeles Philharmonic, in L’Auditori in Barcelona en in Bold Tendencies en het Barbican, beide in Londen. Hij maakt zijn debuut in de Metropolitan Opera in New York in april 2024.
