CREATION OF THE FONDATION CHANEL
The story of CHANEL is a story about a woman. Through her entrepreneurial spirit and creativity, Gabrielle Chanel broke free from her modest origins, reinvented the codes of fashion and influenced the world. The Fondation CHANEL was created in 2011 with the goal of passing on this heritage by supporting projects aimed at improving the economic and social conditions of women around the world.

THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET EXHIBITION
Launch of photography exhibition entitled The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld in Tokyo. The Chanel jacket has come to symbolize a certain nonchalant feminine elegance that is timeless, and for all times, declared Karl Lagerfeld. With The Little Black Jacket,Karl Lagerfeld created a photography project that revisited the iconic jacket in approximately one hundred portraits of celebrities. This traveling exhibition was hosted in 16 cities around the world between 2012 and 2013: Tokyo, New York, Taipei, Hong Kong, London, Moscow, Sydney, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Milan, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, Sao Paulo and Singapore.

80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIJOUX DE DIAMANTS COLLECTION CREATED IN 1932 BY MADEMOISELLE CHANEL
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the unique High Jewelry collection created by Gabrielle Chanel, BIJOUX DE DIAMANTS, the House of CHANEL presented 80 exclusive new pieces. These jewels were revealed in a pop-up planetarium at the Musée du Quai Branly, then presented to the public during the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris.

GABRIELLE CHANEL’S APARTMENT DESIGNATED AS A HISTORICAL MONUMENT
At the heart of the House of Chanel, located on the second floor of 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, between the Haute Couture salons and the Studio and accessible via the mirrored staircase, hides Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment. The eclectic style deeply reflects her personality and journey. An emblematic place that still remains a source of inspiration for CHANEL creations. In June 2013, The French Ministry of culture classified the apartment and the mirrored staircase as historical monuments, recognizing their national importance.

MADEMOISELLE PRIVÉ EXHIBITION AT THE SAATCHI GALLERY IN LONDON
Two words, Mademoiselle Privé, appear on the door that leads to Mademoiselle Chanel's Creative Studio on the fourth floor of 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. It is now the name of an exhibition that invites you to discover the three creative universes of the House: Haute Couture, the very essence of CHANEL creation, the N°5 perfume created in 1921,and High Jewelry with the reproduction of Bijoux de Diamants, the unique collection created by Gabrielle Chanel in 1932. Each one different from the next, this travelling exhibition was on display in Seoul in 2017, then in Hong Kong in 2018 and finally in Shanghai and Tokyo in 2019.

In 2015, Olivier Polge took over as head of the CHANEL Perfume Creation and Development Laboratory. Immersed in the world of perfume since his childhood, this art enthusiast born in Grasse followed in the footsteps of his predecessors, with his father Jacques Polge as one of them.

CULTURE CHANEL EXHIBITION IN VENICE
The final chapter in the Culture CHANEL exhibition took place in Venice, with the theme La femme qui lit (La donna che legge or The woman who reads). It followed the previous installments that were on display in Moscow (L’art comme univers or Art as Universe), Beijing and Shanghai, Canton (Le Train Bleu or The Blue Train), Paris (N°5), and Seoul (L’esprit des lieux or The Spirit of the Place).

THE 19M, A UNIQUE SITE FOR THE ARTISTIC CRAFTS
In September 2018, CHANEL laid the cornerstone of a new site devoted to Artistic Crafts, the 19M. This project aims to bring together the expertise of 11 Artistic Crafts at one site, out of the 40 that belong to the House. The 25,500 m² building designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti will also showcase feats in innovation and sustainable development. It is scheduled to open in 2021.
