CHANEL supports projects by leading artists and choreographers.

  • Support to Creation

    Germaine Acogny
    at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées

    • In an exclusive audio documentary, Germaine Acogny, a major figure in contemporary dance, shares the behind-the-scenes moments of her show at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, in Paris.

For this creation of two acts, the choreographer and dancer performs in “Joséphine”, a ballet celebrating the life of artist and activist Joséphine Baker. Paloma, a Maison d’art residing at le19M, created four costumes for Germaine Acogny for this unique performance. The first act is followed by a representation of “The Rite of Spring” by Igor Stravinsky, a composer close to Gabrielle Chanel, who was the patron of its recreation in 1920. Choreographed by Pina Bausch, the ballet is brought to life by dancers from the École des Sables, a dance school created by Germaine Acogny in Dakar, Senegal.

Ever committed to contemporary creation, CHANEL is honoured to be supporting this show, which encourages the passing down of a passion for creativity and dance between cultures and generations.

Five performances take place from September 24th to 28th at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, in Paris.

  • “La Ville dansée”,
    a paris dance project

  • True to its commitment to contemporary creation and dance, CHANEL is proud to support, for the second time, "La Ville dansée", an invitation from Paris Dance Project to celebrate, in the Paris region, dance in urban spaces. Co-created by Solenne du Haÿs Mascré and Benjamin Millepied, the association aims to democratise this artistic practice for young people and the general public.

From Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 June 2025, Paris Dance Project invites the general public to seven venues in the Paris region to discover a choreography inspired by the film “Koyaanisqatsi” by Godfrey Reggio. Under the artistic direction of Benjamin Millepied, this ballet co-choreographed by Dimitri Chamblas, Emmanuelle Huynh, Jamar Roberts, Pam Tanowitz and Benjamin Millepied deals with the impact of technological revolutions on the evolution of cities and the environment.

Through this support, CHANEL continues to strengthen its ties with the world of dance, initiated by Gabrielle Chanel herself.

“Grace, Jeff Buckley Dances” by Benjamin Millepied

In an exclusive audio documentary, discover the behind the scenes of the ballet “Grace, Jeff Buckley Dances” supported by CHANEL. Blurring the boundaries between film, dance, visual arts and music, this new creation choreographed by Benjamin Millepied celebrates Jeff Buckley, a mythical figure of the late 20th-century rock scene. Accompanied by musicians covering Jeff Buckley’s iconic songs, namely the tracks from “Grace”, the artist’s only album, twelve dancers give life to a series of tableaux recounting the artist’s artwork and fate.

Ever committed to contemporary creation and dance, CHANEL is honoured to be supporting Benjamin Millepied’s tribute to Jeff Buckley.

  • “L’Ombre” by Blanca Li

  • CHANEL is proud to announce its support of “L’Ombre” [The Shadow], a bold, immersive and choreographic experience by Blanca Li that interweaves live performance and virtuality. This ambitious creation mixes dance, live music and augmented reality.

The House has supported the work and creative journey of Blanca Li on several occasions, notably for "Le Bal de Paris" and "Notre Sacre", alongside Abd Al Malik. Elected to the French Academy of Fine Arts in April 2019, Blanca Li wore a suit and sword made by CHANEL, in collaboration with two of its Maisons d’art–Lesage and Goossens–for her inauguration ceremony.

By supporting this hybrid show, the House continues its ongoing relationship with the world of dance—initiated by Gabrielle Chanel in the early 20th century—and its commitment to contemporary creation.

“NOTRE SACRE”,
an Artistic Collaboration

In an exclusive audio documentary, discover the behind the scenes of the show “Notre Sacre”, a contemporary adaptation of Stravinsky's famous “Rite of Spring” and an artistic collaboration between friends of the House Abd Al Malik, Blanca Li along with David Grimal.

Ever committed to contemporary creation and dance, CHANEL is honoured to support this show which continues the historical links between Gabrielle Chanel and “The Rite of Spring”. Produced by the Philharmonie de Paris and presented for the first time in the Grande salle Pierre Boulez, written by Abd Al Malik, staged by Blanca Li and with David Grimal as musical director, the show brings together dance, music and contemporary poetry, as a symbol of unity and living together in harmony.
