Tolia Astakhishvili

Tolia Astakhishvili (née à Tbilisi, en Géorgie, réside entre Berlin et Tbilisi) est une artiste interdisciplinaire dont le travail se matérialise principalement par des installations.
À l'origine ancrée dans le dessin et la peinture, la pratique de Tolia s'étend à la sculpture et aux interventions architecturales à grande échelle qui combinent vidéo, son, images d'archives et matériaux trouvés. Ses installations intègrent souvent le travail d’autres artistes dans un processus collaboratif qu’elle décrit comme « offrant un espace aux récits personnels et collectifs. »
Parmi ses récentes expositions solo figurent The First Finger (chapter II) (2023) à la Haus am Waldsee, The First Finger à la Bonner Kunstverein (2023) et I think it's closed à la Bielefelder Kunstverein (2023), en Allemagne. Sa première exposition solo aux États-Unis aura lieu au SculptureCenter, dans le quartier de Queens, à New York, en 2024.
