A Silk Story

Celebrating 50 years of partnership between CHANEL and Mantero,
a curation of CHANEL silk satin scarves from the 1980s and 1990s, drawn from the Mantero archives, has been re-edited as part of the CHANEL Cruise 2025/26 collection.

On the runway, the scarves adorned the hair, wrists and ankles of the models.

The making of Mantero scarves demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship.

Following the creation and development phases, comes the screen printing.

Traditional, slow and meticulous, this process is part of the heritage of Mantero.

On a fine gauze stretched over a frame, the design is separated by colour.

Colour by colour, the ink is applied to the fabric, then set with steam and gently washed. The finishing process then gives the silk its final qualities — softness, sheen and a tactile effect, making the fabric ready for use.

A family-owned textile company established in Como in 1902, Mantero has just joined the CHANEL ecosystem in 2025.
