2025 Deauville American Film Festival

  • For the seventh consecutive year, CHANEL is pleased to support the Deauville American Film Festival, a place dear to the House. Internationally renowned, the event celebrates the diversity of American films, from major productions to independent cinema.

    During the 51st edition of the festival, CHANEL accompanied actors Golshifteh Farahani, president of the jury, Suzy Bemba, member of the Revelation jury, and Zoey Deutch, who received the Hollywood Rising-Star Award, and actor and director Kristen Stewart who was awarded with the Prix de la Révélation (Revelation award) for her first film “The Chronology of Water”, supported by CHANEL. On the occasion of the closing weekend, Kristen Stewart also shared her favourite French films during a conversation organised with the support of CHANEL.

    The actors were among the guests at the CANAL+ and CHANEL dinner celebrating the 51st edition of the festival and the House’s close ties with cinema.

    Presented in a Special Screening at the 78th Cannes Film Festival and supported by CHANEL, "Arco" is the first animated feature film by director Ugo Bienvenu. "Arco" tells the story of a child from the year 2932 who accidentally travels back in time to 2075.
    Entirely hand-drawn in 2D animation, and featuring the voice of friend of the House Alma Jodorowsky, "Arco" combines artisanal craftsmanship and technological innovation.
    « Arco" is the first animated feature film to be supported by CHANEL, illustrating the House’s commitment to support the preservation and transmission of creation.

  • CHANEL SUPPORTS “NOUVELLE VAGUE” BY RICHARD LINKLATER

    Supported by CHANEL and selected for the Official Competition during the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, “Nouvelle Vague”, the latest film by director Richard Linklater recreates the atmosphere on the set of Jean-Luc Godard’s film “Breathless”, the founding film of the French Nouvelle Vague and landmark in the history of cinema.
    Reaffirming its close ties with cinema, the House is proud to have created a series of silhouettes for the characters of Jean Seberg, played by actress and friend of the House Zoey Deutch, and Juliette Gréco, played by Alix Benezech. Zoey Deutch wears a bustier dress recreated from the Spring-Summer 1956 Haute Couture collection imagined by Gabrielle Chanel. CHANEL also provided accessories, Jewellery pieces and makeup for the actresses.

CHANEL supports ”Jeanne du Barry”

CHANEL is a partner of the film “Jeanne du Barry”, directed by Maïwenn, which opened the 76th Cannes Film Festival. CHANEL has accompanied the production of this film, notably through six costumes specially designed by the House and loans of CHANEL High Jewellery. The House and the film's costume designer, Jürgen Doering, have revisited pieces from the CHANEL collections, modernising the sumptuous spirit of 18th century dresses.

    Supported by CHANEL and presented at the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival, Sofia Coppola's latest feature film tells the story of Priscilla Presley, the woman who once shared Elvis Presley's life. In this biopic, Sofia Coppola depicts their relationship and tells the story of Priscilla's passage into adulthood, her quest for identity and independence.

    On this occasion, loyal friend of the House Sofia Coppola asked CHANEL to create the wedding dress in the scene of her wedding, reinterpreting the one Priscilla actually wore on her wedding day. IN CONVERSATION WITH WIM WENDERS

CHANEL is honoured to be supporting the restoration of "Paris, Texas", a film directed by Wim Wenders for which he won the Palme d'Or in 1984. This support adheres to CHANEL's commitment to disseminating masterpieces of world cinema to as many people as possible. It demonstrates the House's commitment to preserving works that have marked the history of the seventh art.

The restored version of Paris, Texas has been premiered in the Cannes Classics category of the 77 th Cannes Film Festival, celebrating the 40 th anniversary of its Palme d’Or. On this occasion, Wim Wenders reflects on the genesis of this major work and evokes his relationship to time, "the essential material of what we do in cinema".

    CHANEL supports Christophe Honoré's film "Marcello Mio", which has been selected for the Official Competition at this year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival. CHANEL has accompanied the production of the film, namely through costumes specially designed by the House in collaboration with costume designer Pascaline Chavanne for actress Catherine Deneuve.

    The film’s screenplay brings to life a gallery of imaginary characters who have the same first names as the actors who play them. Christophe Honoré has chosen to tell the story of Chiara, embodied by Chiara Mastroianni, who decides to revive her father, the Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni, through herself.

    On this occasion, Christophe Honoré and Catherine Deneuve talk about their collaboration, the importance of costumes to get into a role and the boundary between reality and fiction.

    This year, the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma and CHANEL called on Audrey Diwan to highlight the thirty-two Révélations in a short film. Audrey Diwan directed the film "L'Événement", nominated for the César for Best Film, Best Direction and Best Adaptation.

    This year, the 2022 Revelations are brought together in a short film directed by the duo Thierry Demaizière and Alban Teurlai, whose film “LOURDES” was nominated in 2020 for the César for Best Documentary Film.

    For the fourth year running, CHANEL renews its support of the “César Révélations”, emblem of the young French film creatives. This time, the House and The French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques gave ‘carte blanche’ to female director Yolande Zauberman, 2020 César Award for Best Documentary Film laureate, to introduce the twenty-four young talents through the prism of a short movie.
