조지아 트빌리시 출신으로 현재 베를린과 트빌리시에서 활동 중인 Tolia Astakhishvili는 주로 설치 예술 작품 활동을 하는 융합 예술가입니다.
드로잉과 페인팅에 기반한 작업을 진행해 온 Tolia는 최근 영상과 음향, 아카이브 영상 이미지, 그리고 일상에서 발견한 소재를 활용한 조각 및 대규모의 건축학적 프로젝트로 활동 영역을 넓히고 있습니다. Tolia Astakhishvili의 설치 예술 작품에는 종종 다른 아티스트의 작품이 등장하며, 이는 그녀의 말을 빌리자면 “개인적 및 집단적 내러티브를 위한 공간을 부여하는” 협업 과정에 해당합니다.
Tolia Astakhishvili는 최근 독일 하우스 암 발트제(Haus am Waldsee)에서의 The First Finger (chapter II)(2023), 본 쿤스트페어라인(Bonner Kunstverein)에서의 The First Finger(2023), 그리고 빌레펠트 쿤스트페어라인(Bielefelder Kunstverein)에서의 I think it's closed(2023)로 개인전을 성황리에 마쳤습니다. 미국에서의 첫 번째 개인전은 2024년 뉴욕 퀸즈의 스컵처센터(SculptureCenter)에서 개최될 예정입니다.
