미국 버지니아 태생으로 볼티모어에서 주로 활동하는 Davone Tines는 연극과 오페라에서 베이스 바리톤으로 활약 중인 가수이자 크리에이터, 큐레이터로도 활동하고 있습니다.
그의 강렬한 목소리와 평범함을 거부하는 퍼포먼스는 클래식 음악의 영역을 확장한다는 평을 얻어 왔습니다.
Davóne Tines는 오페라, 대중 음악, 찬송가를 두루 부르며 인내와 인간의 상호 유대감에 대한 깊은 생각을 전합니다.
2022년 뉴욕 카네기 홀(Carnegie Hall)에서 Recital No.1: MASS로 데뷔한 그는 런던 바비칸 센터(Barbican Centre)에서 공연된 데이비드 랭(David Lang)의 오페라 ‘Prisoner of the State(2020)’에서 교도소장 역을 맡았으며, 종합 예술 공연인 ‘The Black Clown(2019)’을 공동 제작하고 직접 무대에 올랐습니다. 랭스턴 휴(Langston Hugh)의 시를 기반으로 제작된 이 공연은 뉴욕 링컨 센터(Lincoln Center)에서 관객에게 큰 감동을 주었습니다.
Davone Tines는 뛰어난 능력을 인정 받아 2020년 스핑크스 메달 오브 엑셀런스(Sphinx Medals of Excellence)와 전미 교육 협회(National Education Association)의 인권 및 민권상(Human and Civil Rights Awards)을 받았으며, 2018년에는 링컨 센터의 신진 예술가상(Emerging Artist Award)을 받았습니다. 또한, 2019년 타임지가 발표한 다음 세대의 리더(Next Generation Leader)로 선정되기도 했습니다.
그는 최근 바르셀로나의 라우디토리(L’Auditori)에서 뉴욕 필하모닉(New York Philharmonic) 그리고 로스앤젤레스 필하모닉(Los Angeles Philharmonic)과 합동 공연을 펼쳤으며, 런던 볼드 텐던시즈(Bold Tendencies)와 바비칸 센터(Barbican)에서도 아름다운 목소리를 들려줬습니다. 그리고 2024년 4월에는 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 오페라(Metropolitan Opera) 무대에 데뷔할 예정입니다.
