EPISODE 5

MELIPONA ENZYMATIC HONEY
FROM COSTA RICA

"We have identified melipona enzymatic honey, which is engrained in age-old tradition and has been used for generations."

Melipona bees, one of the smallest bee species in the world, create a rare and precious honey. At its open-sky laboratory in Costa Rica, CHANEL Research harvests the surplus of this nectar, melipona enzymatic honey, which is produced in extremely small quantities in partnership with Alianza Campesina Flora Nueva. From hive to jar, this active ingredient lies at the heart of the cutting-edge LE LIFT PRO skincare line.

AN OPEN-SKY LABORATORY IN COSTA RICA

In Costa Rica, CHANEL has developed an exclusive, traceable supply chain in partnership with Alianza Campesina Flora Nueva. Melipona enzymatic honey, sourced from Melipona bees, is harvested with respect for nature and biodiversity by only collecting surplus honey and by not destroying the hives. Innovative hives called meliponario are custom built at the open-sky laboratory.

FROM HIVE TO JAR

Melipona bees are some of the smallest in the world. Lacking a stinger, they are found only in tropical regions. Their surplus honey is harvested once per year in the spring, and only in extremely small quantities: between 300 g and 2.5 kg per hive per year.

Highly concentrated in amino acids, melipona enzymatic honey has unique biological properties.

A RARE, PRECIOUS ACTIVE INGREDIENT

It took three years for CHANEL Research to identify melipona enzymatic honey. A microfiltration process preserves the properties of this precious ingredient, which lends its benefits to the new LE LIFT PRO skincare products to reinforce skin's support.

"This honey has the ability to stimulate over 70 biological processes. Processes which, as our observations have shown, are linked to the visible signs of skin aging.

In LE LIFT PRO, it targets the most advanced signs of skin aging."
