BEIGE GOLD
The signature gold colour of CHANEL
Introduction
BEIGE GOLD is not just a colour. Above all, it is a creation inspired by a vision, that of Gabrielle Chanel for whom beige was a refuge: “I take refuge in beige because it’s natural. Not coloured.”*
The result of an alchemy between an idea and an 18-carat gold alloy, an expression of her imagination. To design a watch or a jewellery creation in BEIGE GOLD is to give it a distinctive radiance. The fulgurant power of a signature.

BEIGE GOLD is an idea
In 2015, gold and beige were merged together to transform into a new emblematic material: 18-carat BEIGE GOLD.
The emergence of this colour, imagined by the CHANEL Watch and Fine Jewellery Creation Studios, expresses a singular design vision: the idea, above all. An embrace between material and spirit, which alone can give birth to a style. The vibrant reflection of gold is tempered by the naturalness of beige.
Each BEIGE GOLD piece conveys an emotion. The shimmer of the wet sand of Normandy beaches, the velvety feel of suede in which Gabrielle Chanel liked to take refuge.
Choosing BEIGE GOLD means wearing more than just a precious metal. It means donning the colour of a truly CHANEL creation.
BEIGE GOLD is a style
BEIGE GOLD was created to make each piece a statement and is used in both watches and fine jewellery creations. This colour of gold was first used on the bezel of the J12-365 watch and is also used in other collections, such as the BOY·FRIEND line.
The COCO CRUSH quilting motif etched into BEIGE GOLD has elevated this collection to the status of an icon. More recently, the most famous CHANEL number has donned this gold colour for collection N°5.

Beige is a signature colour
Gabrielle Chanel has always drawn her inspiration from her surroundings, especially from nature. Her fascination with beige started with the wet sand on the beaches of Deauville, France.

She sprinkles this colour—natural, universal, warm—wherever she can. On the façade of Bel Respiro, in the furniture of Villa La Pausa, in the upholstery of the suede sofas in her apartment or as the floor covering at 31 rue Cambon.
“Beige is the colour of wet sand when the sea recedes.”

The colour is also present in nearly 150 creations. The first pieces in jersey from 1913, tweed because of how it flatters the complexion, the two-tone shoe, which elongates the leg by blending in with the colour of skin. Beige was later expanded to cosmetics. The shade lends its name to one of the LES EXCLUSIFS DE CHANEL fragrances as well as the LES BEIGES make-up collection. Omnipresent, this colour finds expression in all activities of the House, inspiring the idea of this new colour of gold.
BEIGE GOLD is a creation
BEIGE GOLD is initially the expression of a creative gesture, distinguished by the subtle balance of its nuances.

Hundreds of samples were developed to perfect its radiance. Composed of 750 thousandths of fine gold, this exclusive 18-carat gold alloy stands apart for its sophistication and uncompromising quality.
