ANNA KARINA: A STAGE NAME
CREATED BY GABRIELLE CHANEL
Hanne Karin Bayer began her career in Denmark, where she sang in cabarets, worked as a model, and acted in commercials. At the age of 17 she came to Paris and met Gabrielle Chanel, who helped her come up with her professional name: Anna Karina. She was noticed at the time by Jean-Luc Godard and went on to play her first great film roles.
