FINE JEWELLERY

You will find on our website all of our Fine Jewellery collections. However, for our exceptional High Jewellery pieces, only one selection is featured.

We invite you to visit the CHANEL Fine Jewellery Boutique of your choice to discover more items and experience the universe unique to each collection. All pieces displayed on the website are subject to availability in your local boutique.

You will find many types of information about CHANEL jewellery by visiting the Fine Jewellery section of our website.

You can contact us so that we may assist you in your search.

We also invite you to visit the CHANEL Fine Jewellery Boutique of your choice where a sales associate will be able to provide you with personalised recommendations about CHANEL creations and style.

CHANEL Fine Jewellery pieces are created using exceptional gemstones and precious metals, selected for their aesthetic quality and rarity. To preserve their brilliancy, you are advised to give them very special care and handle them delicately.

In our Care & Services section, you will find a few recommendations for use and maintenance that will help you keep your jewellery in perfect condition for a long time.

CHANEL Jewellery watches are precious and delicate. They are water resistant but are not designed to be completely immersed in water. They are protected from dust, rain, and splashing water. This protection is provided by a series of seals, which we recommend replacing every two years to ensure optimal protection.

The water resistance of your watch will be tested and renewed with each service performed by CHANEL workshops. A watch must never be worn in a sauna, Turkish bath, shower, or bath as hot water may damage its water resistance seals.

CHANEL Fine Jewellery creations are made from the most precious materials and the rarest stones.

18K gold, which is gold of a millesimal fineness of 750, is the purest alloy used in jewellery. All CHANEL Fine Jewellery pieces are in either 18K gold or 950 platinum.

In its constant search for perfection, CHANEL Fine Jewellery involves the expertise of a gemologist in the diamond selecting process, who takes the time to examine each gem. This is how CHANEL Fine Jewellery offers exceptional diamonds that are among the finest in the world.

DIAMOND QUALITY CRITERIA (4C)

Diamonds come in a variety of colours, ranging from the so-called "colourless" diamonds whose coloration is classified in accordance with an internationally recognized scale, to those rarer cases of diamonds with more or less saturated colours, such as yellow, blue, pink, champagne, black or green.

A diamond's quality depends on the perfect combination of four criteria, known as "the 4Cs,” which are subject to endless variations that make each stone unique:

Clarity

The clarity of a diamond is determined by the number, size, position and colour of visible inclusions in the stone. Its visibility is measured by using a 10X magnifying glass.

COLOUR

Ideal diamonds are generally distinguished by the absence of color. Thus, the more colorless a diamond, the more rare and precious it is.

An international standard attributes the letter "D" to totally colorless diamonds, with the following letters of the alphabet used to measure yellow or brown tints that appear in the stone.

Cut

The cut is the element that enhances a diamond's qualities, thus revealing its most ideal balance of brilliance, fire and sparkle. This is the only criterion that directly depends on humans, while the other criteria are determined by nature.

Excellent proportions combined with perfectly symmetrical facets enable light to be captured, which allows the carefully-selected stone to reveal its true brilliance.

The word "carat" refers to the seeds of the carob tree, used in antiquity to measure the weight of a diamond, and has been the international standard unit of measurement since 1907. A carat is equivalent to 0.20 grams. The diagram below shows the ratio between the diameter of a round diamond and its carat weight. The weight of a diamond may be greater than 3.5 carats.

CERTIFICATION

For each round diamond with a weight equivalent to or greater than 0.25 carats, for each fancy-cut diamond equivalent to or greater than 0.50 carats, and for each coloured diamond regardless of its weight, CHANEL Fine Jewellery provides a certificate issued by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), an internationally renowned laboratory.

(In exceptional cases, certain certificates are issued by the HRD, or “Hoge Raad voor Diamant.”)

This certificate works like an identity card for a stone, indicating its composition in terms of the 4Cs while also providing a body of supplementary information attesting to the exceptional quality of a CHANEL Fine Jewellery diamond.

CHANEL Fine Jewellery encourages respect for strict ethical standards in terms of sourcing. Each diamond sold in a CHANEL Fine Jewellery Boutique comes from legal sources, in full compliance with the Kimberley Process certification scheme, as defined by the United Nations.

Under the guarantee system instituted by this process, each partner undertakes to provide a written declaration mentioned on the invoice attesting that the diamonds are sourced from non-conflict countries. This particular vigilance helps ensure the credibility of the diamond trade, eradicating the circulation of stones from countries in situations of armed conflict.

CHANEL encourages respect for strict ethical, social, and environmental principles in terms of sourcing. Each diamond sold in a CHANEL Fine Jewellery boutique comes from legal sources, in full compliance with the certification system of the Kimberley Process, as defined by the United Nations, and the World Diamond Council System of Warranties (SoW), which fight against “conflict diamonds”. Each diamond comes with a certificate of authenticity that attests to this.

CHANEL Fine Jewellery is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and has been certified to its Code of Practices standards since 2011. The Responsible Jewellery Council is a non-profit organisation whose objective is to promote responsible ethical, social, and environmental practices that respect human rights, throughout the entire jewellery supply chain. These apply to diamonds, gold, metals from platinum mines, silver, and coloured gemstones.

The history of CHANEL Fine Jewellery began one evening in 1932. At her private Faubourg Saint-Honoré mansion, Mademoiselle Chanel exhibited her first collection built around the twin themes of the Comet and the Diamond.

When CHANEL revived this activity in 1993, the collection paid homage to its origins in the form of reproductions and reinterpretations of the first pieces from the “Bijoux de Diamants” collection.

In 1997, the acquisition of one of the finest mansions in the Place Vendôme (situated at Number 18 in the famous square) and the creation of the Watches & Fine Jewellery Boutique seemed the natural conclusion to a secret itinerary that led Mademoiselle Chanel from her Faubourg Saint-Honoré mansion to Rue Cambon, and then on to the Ritz.

This move also marked CHANEL's appearance alongside its peers, the greatest names in fine jewellery. CHANEL Fine Jewellery demonstrates its coming of age through its constantly renewed creativity, forged around the fundamental symbols of the universe of Mademoiselle.

In 2007, CHANEL took luxury to a whole new level, always looking ahead to the future in the image of its founder, who used to say: "I want to be associated with what is yet to come.”

Behind the elegant facade designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart at 18 Place Vendôme, a new boutique now develops the major themes first proposed at that original exhibition held at Mademoiselle Chanel’s mansion.

In 1993, we enlisted the services of an independent designer who was selected for his creativity and expertise that met CHANEL’s stringent demands, and who was continually inspired by the world of Mademoiselle Chanel. In order to better consolidate and increase the growth of this activity, creation began within CHANEL starting in 2009. This decision gave CHANEL Fine Jewellery new momentum and helped definitively establish it among the most illustrious houses of the Place Vendôme.

Twenty-four years after its launch, CHANEL Fine Jewellery is still experiencing increasing success in the fine jewellery sector.

When she presented her first and only high jewellery collection in 1932, Gabrielle Chanel set a tone that would endure: the line leads. Material is no longer a limit, as gold and diamonds give way to designs inspired by her perception of the world. Just like ribbons, the pieces move with the contours of a woman’s body, allowing her to feel liberated and move freely.

This technical feat can be found at the heart of the creation process for CHANEL Fine Jewellery. Each raw material—stones, pearls, and precious metals—is carefully selected by experts following standards of the highest quality, in particular the 4 Cs of diamonds (colour, clarity, cut, and carat).

Located at Place Vendôme, the birthplace of French Fine Jewellery, the creative studio is where technical know-how meets ingenuity. A place where the purity of the materials is combined with the expertise of artisan jewellers to create pieces with a uniquely recognisable allure.

Each CHANEL Fine Jewellery creation is subject to the legal warranties currently in force. The following are not covered by these warranties:
• Damage resulting from accidents or from inappropriate or abusive use of a fine Jewellery creation;
• Damage resulting from repairs or dismantling not undertaken by a CHANEL Fine Jewellery Boutique;
• The consequences of normal wear & tear and the aging of a fine jewellery piece.

CHANEL Jewellery watches have successfully passed the most rigorous reliability tests devised by Swiss watchmaking professionals. They are therefore guaranteed against all manufacturing defects for two years from the date of purchase marked on the International Guarantee Certificate. This guarantee is total (parts and labour).

However, these two guarantees exclude the following:
• Damage caused by accidents or by misuse of the watch (violent shock, crushing, rough handling of the clasp, etc.);
• Damage caused by repairs or dismantling not carried out by a CHANEL watchmaking workshop or an authorized CHANEL watchmaking workshop;
• The consequences of normal use and aging of the watch. It also excludes leather straps, given their specific nature.

For more information about the terms and conditions for CHANEL guarantees, please refer to our Care & Services section.

CHANEL Fine Jewellery benefits from an international network of workshops that meet the strictest technical standards while providing impeccable service. For all repairs, we invite you to take your fine jewellery creation to the CHANEL Fine Jewellery Boutique of your choice. Any repair not carried out by a CHANEL Boutique, a CHANEL Fine Jewellery workshop, or an authorised CHANEL retailer exposes your fine jewellery creation to the risk of serious damage and the voiding of any applicable guarantee.
