INSPIRATION

In 1920, Grand Duke Dimitri was exiled from Russia to Paris, carrying memories of furs and the snow-covered steppe with him. Charmed by the Byzantine style, Gabrielle Chanel adorned her creations with folk motifs and golden embroidery. She was also familiar with this world through her friends Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Diaghilev, founder of the Ballets Russes.
