AIRY FIGURES

In a light pink look, model Kaia Gerber walks the show. The hooped dress, complete with feather puffed baby-doll sleeves makes for an airy figure. This draped bustier, whose flower embroidered veil contrasts with the feather lightness of the underskirt, moves to the rhythm of her footsteps.

FLORAL ASSORTMENT

Ranging in prints, embroideries or lace, flowers are sprinkled throughout the collection. Bouquets of anemones and buttercups, petals of wisteria and carnations are meshed with the traditional camellia, signature flower of the House. Leafy gems, floral laces enhanced with stones, botanical embroideries, and other floral plumetis, adorn dotted-muslin bustier dresses and evening gowns. Tiered skirts in tulle or feather look as if they are flowers about to bloom. Multicolored petals in watercolor tints are printed on the light flowing skirts.

THE HAUTE COUTURE SUIT

Luna Bijl opens the show wearing a pomegranate tweed ensemble. The iconic tailored jacket, lightly trapeze in shape, reveals rounded shoulders. The front of it harbors two discreet pockets in which models can on occasion slip their hands into. These "smiling pockets" illustrate "the new attitude" for Haute Couture as imagined by Karl Lagerfeld. The straight skirt presents slits in curved lines recalling the rounded cuts of the front of the vest. Pearl-brocade and sequined ankle boots complete the look.

FRENCH FORMAL GARDEN

Echoing 17th Century ponds and groves, the nef of the Grand Palais is transformed into a verdant landscape for the Spring‑Summer 2018 Haute Couture show. An alcove of leafy and wooden plaits surrounds the fountain, elevated at center stage. Beneath the arcade of this junction that are punctuated by the four entrance lodges, the models cross paths. Guests can watch them from the benches on which they sit.
