THE '31' HANDBAG
FALL-WINTER 2018/19

Printed, two-tone, quilted, in smooth or patent leather, the new '31' handbag was created by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fall-Winter 2018/19 collection. In coral orange, faded pink, fuchsia or poppy red, they are carried with fingerless gloves in matching colors for added vibrancy.

One after the other, models march through a forest recreated under the arches of the Grand Palais in Paris. They stride over a bed of fallen leaves in big floor-length coats or braid-trimmed down jackets. Details inspired by nature mingle seamlessly with autumnal colors: floral embroideries and leafy lacework enhance tweed, wool and corduroy in russet, brown, moss green and pine green tones. Knitwear in shades of beige, heightened with lurex, comes in long scarves and godet dresses paired with bark print thigh boots. Seated under trees, guests watching the presentation included Keira Knightley, Vanessa Paradis, Liu Wen and Shin Hye Park.

Model Kaia Gerber appears in a leaf-motif lace dress, sustained by thin shoulder straps lined with pearls. Long fingerless leather gloves in a vivid shade of pink match the '31' handbag presented during the show, building a contrast with the black lace that defines the silhouette.

In a look backstage under the glass-domed roof of the Grand Palais in Paris, models offer glimpses of the collection's plant theme. Floral motifs blend naturally with foliage and bark prints.
