KARL LAGERFELD FOLLOWING
COCO CHANEL'S FOOTSTEPS TO DALLAS

The invitation sketched by Karl Lagerfeld reads, "Coco Chanel back in Dallas". The fashion show for the 2013/14 Métiers d'Art collection titled "Paris-Dallas" will take place on the 10th of December 2013 at Dallas Fair Park, a historical venue with art-deco architecture that is located in the heart of the Texan city. This event is the occasion to celebrate the strong bond that linked the French designer to the United States. "I admire and love America. It's where I made my fortune. For many Americans (…), I am France" stated Gabrielle Chanel, cited by Paul Morand in his book, The Allure of Chanel.
The climax of this mutual passion dates back to 1957, when Coco Chanel – accompanied by a delegation of 125 people from France – landed on October 14th at the Dallas airport. Stanley Marcus, co-founder of the Neiman Marcus store, awarded her with the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion, the "Oscar of Fashion". That year, the designer of rue Cambon is the only winner among the 300 fashion designers invited, an indication of the importance she holds in the hearts of Americans. During her twelve-day Texan journey, Gabrielle Chanel dazzles the crowd to the point that Time Magazine reports the event by titling it "Dallas in Wonderland".
Fifty-six years later, Karl Lagerfeld returns to Dallas and retraces this journey that sealed the French-American love story of the designer with the people seduced by the modernity of her creations.

Discover behind the scene features of the fashion show on December 10th, from 9pm Dallas time, on Chanel News.

TRAILER OF "THE RETURN"
A FILM DIRECTED BY KARL LAGERFELD

In December 1953, Coco Chanel began her incredible return to center stage. The designer reopens her Haute Couture house after fifteen years of absence. The collection is welcomed by the French press with an icy silence. Only the American media supports the looks that define the rebirth of Chanel's style. The Return retraces this determining period, that shaped the legend of the designer of rue Cambon forever.

The Return features Geraldine Chaplin in the role of Gabrielle Chanel, Rupert Everett, Anna Mouglalis, Lady Amanda Harlech, Arielle Dombasle, the model Kati Nescher, as well as Vincent Darré and Sam McKnight. This new film imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, will premiere in Dallas on December 10th as an introduction to the 2013/14 Métiers d'Art fashion show, at 6:30pm local time, and broadcasted simultaneously on chanel.com.

Soundtrack: Francis Poulenc "Sonate pour hautbois et piano, Op. 185 : Scherzo"

"THE RETURN" TEASER #2
GERALDINE CHAPLIN, INCREDIBLE COCO

It takes an out of the ordinary actor to interpret the role of Coco Chanel at the moment she takes the comeback of her career: reopening her couture house after 15 years of absence. Geraldine Chaplin incarnates the designer with accuracy and precision, to the point of expressing her most natural emotions.
The Return, the film imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, takes place in 1954, when Gabrielle Chanel creates - against all odds - a new collection that shakes up the codes of fashion and defines Chanel's style forever.

The Return will be revealed in Dallas, Texas, on December 10th, as an opening for the 2013/14 Métiers d'Art fashion show titled "Paris-Dallas".

Soundtrack: Francis Poulenc "Sonate pour hautbois et piano, Op. 185 : Scherzo"
