THE NEW CHANEL ‘31’ HANDBAG
FALL-WINTER 2018/19

The ‘31’ handbag, Fall-Winter’s signature accessory, was inspired by a bag once owned by Gabrielle Chanel. According to Karl Lagerfeld, its name refers to a French saying. “You know that there is special meaning behind it, the expression ‘se mettre sur son 31’ means when one gets dressed up.”

The ‘31’ can be carried in different ways: firmly in hand by its handle or folded like a clutch, or slung across the body. Quilted and generously shaped, it comes in a range of bold colors, from pale pink to red, coral and electric blue, as well as different materials, leather, canvas or tweed.

WOODLAND VOLUMES
FALL-WINTER 2018/19

To create a woodland coat from the Fall-Winter collection, tweed was spun from nut, brown and green yarn. An empire-waisted coat with wide turned-up and trompe-l’œil cap sleeves and a raised collar finish the design.

LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONE
FOR A NEW SITE DEDICATED TO
CHANEL'S MÉTIERS D'ARTS

CHANEL is increasing its commitment to its Métiers d’art with the establishment of a dedicated new site to be completed in 2020 in the 19th arrondissement in Paris.

Bruno Pavlovsky, President of CHANEL SAS, laid the first foundation stone of the building on Monday, alongside Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris. ‘This remarkable and ambitious project will be a new chapter in the great adventure that CHANEL is pleased to have initiated more than 30 years ago: that of perpetuating the Métiers d'art in Paris, near the creation studios.’ — Bruno Pavlovsky
