"THE RITZ IS MY HOME"

In 1937, François Kollar realized a photoshoot of Gabrielle Chanel in her suite at the Ritz Paris. Published for the first time in 1937, the picture was chosen to illustrate the only Chanel n° 5 perfume advertisement, that was embodied by the designer herself.

CHANEL TAKES UP RESIDENCE
IN LE MARAIS

Chanel has opened a new fashion boutique at 47, rue Vieille du Temple in the unique setting of the Hôtel Amelot de Bisseuil.

The space has a raw edge, with glass, corten steel and wood underscoring the historic monument’s mineral and radical atmosphere. The boutique showcase the Ready-to-Wear, accessory et shoes from the Cruise and Fall-Winter collections.

A DAY AT THE RITZ PARIS
WITH GABRIELLE CHANEL

Mademoiselle leaves her suite, as she does every day, via the concierge's office, which she prefers to the main lobby. She sets out on the short walk to 31 rue Cambon, the iconic address where she has established her boutique and Haute Couture studios, the nerve center of the House of Chanel.

On the way, she passes the windows of her first apartment on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where she lived before deciding that the freedom offered by the hotel suited her better. She chose the comfort of the Ritz, so close to work, because it let her decorate the rooms with her own furniture, drawings, and objets d'art.

The Ritz lies at the heart of Gabrielle Chanel's daily routine. She returns there for lunch at the Espadon. The hotel is a living space, changing as the hours pass from a haven of peace to a throbbing, vibrant place to be. Dinner gives her the opportunity to meet close friends such as Misia Sert, Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau, in a friendly, familiar setting that has something new to offer every night.
