WORKWEAR SPIRIT

Trousers in gabardine or oiled cotton are inspired by workmen's uniforms and look exaggerated, mixing comfort and functionality. In mocha, cobalt blue or black, paired with a tailored jacket or enveloped by a long coat over a poplin blouse with a large, flounced jabot peeking out from underneath, they recall CHANEL's emblematic mix of feminine and masculine codes.

TWEED BURST

The CHANEL tweed jacket is reinvented season after season. For Cruise 2019/20, its colour palette intensifies and textural effects are multiplied, at times in downy wool and at others in delicate fabrics. Monochrome jackets in fuchsia or vivid green, bright mauve or intense pink, catch the light and illuminate dyed black jersey leggings. These long, lean silhouettes feature a waist accentuated with a gold-finished metallic chain interlaced with leather that closes with a black satin bow.

AN INVITATION TO TRAVEL
THE CRUISE 2019/20 COLLECTION

The House chose to reveal its Cruise 2019/20 collection in a Beaux-Arts style train station. Like the promise of adventure, the main hall is traversed by railroad tracks over which one can just picture trains setting off for one of the destinations posted over kiosks and benches: Venice, Saint Tropez, Athens, Byzance, Bombay, Edinburgh and Rome appear like so many windows on the world, reprising the settings, real or imagined, of earlier CHANEL collections.

THE NEW MÉTIERS D'ART PRIZE
AT THE 2019 HYÈRES FESTIVAL

“I want to be a part of what’s happening”, Mademoiselle Chanel once said. For this 34th edition of the Hyères Festival, that’s the avant-garde spirit CHANEL wishes to cultivate by reinforcing its support of young talent through the launch of the Métiers d’art Prize. This year, each of the ten fashion designers in competition had a chance to develop a project in collaboration with one of ten houses from CHANEL’s Métiers d’art: Desrues, Ateliers de Verneuil-en-Halatte, Lemarié, Maison Michel, Massaro, Lesage, Goossens, Montex, Causse and Lognon.

A chance for young talents to push the limits of design, this prize will be awarded to the best collaboration following Sunday evening’s fashion shows. The winner will take home a trophy designed by the goldsmith Goossens and receive the opportunity to produce, with CHANEL’s mentorship, a new creation that will be revealed next year at the 35th edition of the festival.

34TH EDITION OF
THE HYÈRES FESTIVAL
OPENING NIGHT

A loyal partner of the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories in Hyères since 2014, CHANEL this year renews its support of the event, celebrating young talent and serving as a springboard for upcoming designers.

To celebrate the opening, CHANEL brought together members of the jury and friends of the House at its annual dinner. Guests were treated to a private concert by Clara Luciani who was dressed in CHANEL for the occasion.
