Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen (narozený a žijící v Singapuru) působí v oblasti animace, videa, performance a instalací. Přivlastňuje si a přetváří mýty a příběhy, aby prozkoumal způsoby, jakými jsou rámovány realita a historie.
Velká část jeho práce se vztahuje k Singapuru, bývalé britské kolonii, která je nyní multikulturním ostrovním státem. Hoova praxe, která se rozšířila ze Singapuru, začlenila také mýty jiných kultur z jihovýchodní a východní Asie.
„Další fáze mé umělecké praxe je neznámá,“ říká. „Jsem však rád, že se do ní vrhnu se zvýšenými kapacitami, které mi tato cena umožnila.“
Ho reprezentoval Singapur na 54. ročníku Benátského bienále, přičemž pořádal samostatné výstavy svých děl v Toyota Municipal Museum of Art v Japonsku (2021), Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media v Japonsku (2021), v Kunstverein Hamburk v Německu (2018), v Guggenheimově muzeu ve španělském Bilbau (2015) a v Mori Art Museum v Tokiu (2012).
Průzkumná výstava s názvem Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger, zahrnující dvě desetiletí jeho práce, byla zahájena v Singapore Art Museum v roce 2023. Výstava letos poputuje do Art Sonje Center v Soulu a Hessel Museum of Art v New Yorku a poté se v roce 2025 přesune do Mudam Contemporary Art Museum of Luxembourg. Jeho sólová výstava s názvem A for Agents bude zahájena v Muzeu současného umění v Tokiu v dubnu 2024.
„Cena CHANEL Next Prize mě posílila,“ říká. „Povzbudila mě k tomu, abych učinil další krok.“
