Tolia Astakhishvili, née à Tbilissi, en Géorgie, est une artiste interdisciplinaire basée à Berlin et Tbilissi travaillant principalement dans le domaine de l’installation artistique.
Ancrée dans le dessin et la peinture, l’approche de Tolia s’étend aujourd’hui à la sculpture et aux interventions artistiques architecturales à grande échelle qui combinent vidéo, son, images d’archives et matériaux récupérés. Les installations artistiques d’Astakhishvili intègrent régulièrement les œuvres d’autres artistes, un processus collaboratif qu’elle décrit comme « un espace ouvert aux récits personnels et collectifs ».
Les récentes expositions solos d’Astakhishvili, toutes visibles en Allemagne, incluent The First Finger (2023) au Bonner Kunstverein, The First Finger – chapitre II (2023) au Haus am Waldsee, ainsi que I think it’s closed au Bielefelder Kunstverein (2023). Sa première exposition solo aux États-Unis ouvrira ses portes au SculptureCenter dans le Queens à New York, en 2024.
