Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen, artiste né et basé à Singapour, se distingue dans les domaines de l’animation, de la vidéo, de la performance et de l’installation artistique. Il s’approprie et réinterprète les mythes et les légendes pour nous interroger sur les façons dont la réalité et l’Histoire se sont définies.
La plus grande partie de son œuvre se concentre sur la ville de Singapour, une ancienne colonie britannique qui est aujourd’hui un État insulaire multiculturel. Partant de Singapour, la pratique de Ho intègre au fur et à mesure les mythes et les histoires d’autres cultures d’Asie du Sud-Est et d’Asie de l’Est.
« La prochaine étape de mon art m’est encore inconnue, » déclare-t-il.« Mais je suis impatient de le découvrir grâce à ce prix qui augmente mon potentiel. »
Ho a représenté Singapour à la 54e édition de la Biennale de Venise. Il a également exposé ses œuvres en 2021 au Toyota Municipal Museum of Art et au Yamaguchi Centre for Arts and Media au Japon, ainsi qu’au Mori Art Museum à Tokyo en 2012, au Kunstverein d’Hambourg en Allemagne en 2018 et au Musée Guggenheim de Bilbao en Espagne en 2015.
Une exposition rétrospective intitulée Ho Tzu Nyen : Time & the Tiger couvrant deux décennies de son œuvre, a ouvert ses portes au Singapour Art Museum en 2023. L’exposition se rendra cette année au Art Sonje Center à Séoul et au Hessel Museum of Art à New York avant de se rendre au Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean au Luxembourg en 2025. Une autre exposition solo, intitulée A for Agents, sera présentée au Museum of Contemporary Art à Tokyo en avril 2024.
