Investing in Circularity

Exceptional product creation is part of our savoir-faire. We are exploring opportunities to maximise the durability and lifecycles of our products, materials and spaces, to help reduce our impact on nature.

Our progress

Preserving each creation over time

CHANEL & moi is a range of services designed by the House to provide lasting attention to each creation.

This commitment is present in each boutique around the world with the ambition to offer each client care and repair solutions for all fashion product categories, watches and jewellery pieces while respecting the authenticity of each creation. Among the hundreds of services, some have become CHANEL signatures like the in-boutique alteration services that allow each Ready-to-Wear piece to be perfectly fitted and the CHANEL Restoring Care service that breathes new youth into bags.

It is also embodied through CHANEL & moi - Les Ateliers, dedicated spaces in selected cities around the world where clients can meet with expert teams, tailors and artisans committed to reviving and preserving the uniqueness of each creation.

CHANEL & moi is a promise to all clients and a commitment to all products. A promise of timeless creations, made to be cherished over time and passed down.

DESIGNING OUR EVENTS WITH SUSTAINABILITY IN MIND

We are committed to applying a circular systems approach to the design, décor and materials we use in our events, including redefining ways in which we collaborate with suppliers to implement solutions as an antidote to traditional challenges. This vision comes to life across the world for example with the events below.

In 2024, we staged 15 immersive workshops for our clients to mark the launch of the SUBLIMAGE Les Extraits skincare line. These events incorporated best practices for sustainable design without compromising on creative vision - minimising the creation of new décor, by reusing set builds across multiple locations and renting equipment from local suppliers. As a result of these and other efforts, the overall carbon footprint of the events was 89% lower than equivalent events using newly purchased décor.

Similarly, we applied the principles of sustainable design to the staging of the LE GRAND NUMÉRO DE CHANEL exhibition in Paris. 76% of the décor was sourced from local suppliers, and 97% of materials were repurposed or donated once it ended. This meant that the carbon footprint of the event was 68% lower than predicted, according to a subsequent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) evaluation conducted post-event.

Gold Sourcing

Chanel’s Watches & Fine Jewellery business derives many of its precious materials, including gold, through mining, a process that contributes to our carbon footprint and presents environmental and social challenges. To address those issues, we continuously search for gold sources with extraction and production methods in line with our carbon reduction targets and sustainability commitments. This includes recycled gold with Responsible Jewellery Council CoC certification - that represented more than 90% of our gold sourcing in 2024 - and other gold sources, provided they comply with strict traceability, environmental and social standards.
