Advancing Dignity and Opportunity

People are at the heart of Chanel, from the flower growers in our Open Sky Laboratories, to the artisans whose specialist skills have been honed and passed down over decades, to the people working within our supply chains, and those in our boutiques who shape our clients’ experiences.

For 100 years, we have respected and invested in the people and communities that are behind our brand because we believe everyone within and beyond our House should be treated with dignity and respect and have the opportunity to thrive.

Our progress

Traceability Alliance for Sustainable Cosmetics (TRASCE)

Chanel led the launch of the Traceability Alliance for Sustainable Cosmetics (TRASCE), which was finalised in 2023. This initiative brings together 18 players in the cosmetics sector, with the aim of accelerating the sustainable transformation of the industry.

Members, including cosmetic brands and suppliers, have joined together to improve the traceability of supply chains for key components in the industry's formulas and packaging. TRASCE was initiated to gain deeper understanding of the sector’s supply chains, to better understand and mitigate risks, enhance resiliency, and improve environmental and social sustainability.

Since launching, the initiative focussed on mapping 40 priority raw material and packaging supply chains. In 2025, TRASCE members are facilitating “Supply Chain Days” or “Journées Filières” with suppliers, NGOs, certification bodies and other external stakeholders to agree collective action plans for specific supply chains.

Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030

As a member of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030), Chanel’s Watches & Fine Jewellery business is collaborating with the wider industry to address challenges focused on three key areas: building climate resilience, preserving resources and fostering inclusiveness.

Initiative members commit to moving together in partnership to transform the industry and ensure inclusive and responsible value chains, in respect of human rights and labour laws, while supporting opportunities for people and planet.

In 2023, our President of CHANEL Watches & Fine Jewellery joined the Board of the WJI 2030, working with other Board members and WJI 2030’s Executive Director and management, to help support the initiative to deliver on its purpose.
