Books accompany us throughout our lives. They broaden our horizons, fuel our imagination, and connect us to one another. Convinced of their importance, CHANEL created the Rendez-vous littéraires rue Cambon [Literary Rendez-vous at Rue Cambon] in 2021 to share a love of books.

The Rendez-vous littéraires [Literary Rendezvous] bring together women writers and friends of the House to discuss the theme of women's empowerment, through their own works or those of historical literary figures.

Books never left Gabrielle Chanel’s side, from her childhood in Auvergne, France to Rue Cambon, "I learned about life from novels". With the Rendez-vous littéraires rue Cambon [Literary Rendez-vous at Rue Cambon], CHANEL continues the dialogue between fashion and books initiated by the House's founder.

Created in 1999 by Karl Lagerfeld who turned it into a photography studio, and acquired by CHANEL in 2021, the 7L Library, with its stacks of iconic books, bears witness to the links between CHANEL and literature.

CHANEL fosters literary vocations by supporting the creation of the "MOT pour Mots" festival and the "Prix Littéraire du Nouvel Obs", which annually honours a first-time novelist.

Since 2021, the Rendez-vous littéraires rue Cambon [Literary Rendez-vous at Rue Cambon] has had the pleasure of welcoming writers including Leïla Slimani, Camille Laurens, Chantal Thomas, Jeanette Winterson, Siri Hustvedt, Anne Berest, Léonora Miano, Marie NDiaye, Maria Pourchet, Rachel Cusk, and Katie Kitamura.
