Ho Tzu Nyen

Ho Tzu Nyen (nascido e residente em Cingapura) trabalha com animação, vídeo, performance e instalação. Ele reinterpreta mitos e histórias para questionar como a realidade e a história são percebidas.
Grande parte de sua obra está relacionada a Cingapura, uma antiga colônia britânica que se tornou um estado insular multicultural. A partir de Cingapura, a prática de Ho começou a incorporar mitos e histórias de outras culturas do Sudeste Asiático e da Ásia Oriental.
“A próxima etapa da minha prática artística é desconhecida”, afirma. “Mas estou feliz de poder aprofundar-me nela com mais capacidade graças a este prêmio.”
Ho representou Cingapura na 54ª Bienal de Veneza e realizou exposições individuais de seu trabalho no Toyota Municipal Museum of Art e no Yamaguchi Centre for Arts and Media, ambos no Japão (2021); no Kunstverein Hamburg, na Alemanha (2018); no Guggenheim Museum, em Bilbao, Espanha (2015); e no Mori Art Museum, em Tóquio (2012).
Uma exposição investigativa, intitulada Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger e abrangendo duas décadas de seu trabalho, foi inaugurada no Singapore Art Museum em 2023. Este ano, a mostra seguirá em turnê para o Art Sonje Center em Seul e o Hessel Museum of Art em Nova York antes de viajar para o Mudam Contemporary Art Museum de Luxemburgo em 2025. Além disso, ele terá uma mostra individual, intitulada “A for Agents”, no Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Tóquio em abril de 2024.
