Why do you think that prizes in culture are particularly significant?

I think prizes are important especially in motivating future generations to really understand that dreaming is really critical, that the world isn’t perfect and that we need to keep reimagining the world. But I think that also being able to highlight characters that become figure heads - put on pedestals, put on podiums, to really focus that there are possibilities and that one can become distinguished from ones’ peers by taking risks and by pushing agendas. That’s not always comfortable but it’s also very important.

What do you think is next?

I think the issues are inequalities in the built environment, climate justice, social justice, imagining new worlds with new technologies, imagining new futures of publicness.
