HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU SERVICE YOUR WATCH?

Check water resistance every 2 years (every year if in frequent contact with water)

Servicing every 4 to 5 years

The water resistance for sapphire watches is 30 metres, and for ceramic watches it is 50 metres. However, to avoid damaging the strap, you should not immerse your watch entirely under water.

Water resistance means that the movement is protected from dust, moisture and any deterioration should it be submerged in water up to those depths. Watches are water-resistant thanks to their seals. To ensure continuous water resistance, it is recommended to replace the seals every two years from the date of first use. It is also advised to test your watch’s water resistance every year if the watch has been exposed to sea or pool water for long periods of time. Never adjust the crown while it is submerged in water because the water may leak into the case. It is best to remove your watch before taking a shower or bath and before entering a sauna or steam room because heat, soap and steam can damage the water-resistant seals.

Condensation under the crystal indicates that water has gotten into the watch, and it must be checked as soon as possible.

For maximum accuracy and reliability, it is recommended that you not wear your watch when engaging in a potentially high-impact sport like tennis, golf or horseback riding. Also, stay at least 10 centimetres away from highly magnetised objects like smartphones, tablet computers, induction hobs, speakers, TV screens and airport security detectors. For more information about magnetisation, please consult the Care and Maintenance section.

The J12 CALIBRE 3.1 watch requires manual winding to tighten the mainspring that operates the movement. This can be done by turning the crown clockwise until it stops, which means the movement is fully wound (approximately 25 full turns of the crown).

The watch has a 55-hour power reserve. Beyond this autonomous period, manual winding becomes necessary. To maintain the accuracy of your watch, it is advised that you wind the movement every day (approximately 12 full turns of the crown).

If your watch is fitted with a ceramic or sapphire strap, first verify that the crown is properly tightened or pushed in before cleaning. Clean the strap with soapy water, then rinse thoroughly. Dry with a soft cloth.

Sapphire is the hardest material in the world, after diamond. On the [Mohs scale of mineral hardness], it is rated a 9, while diamond is rated a 10. Sapphire can therefore only be scratched by a diamond. As with diamonds, it is advised not to strike the sapphire parts of your watch against hard materials, like tile and marble. Moreover, sapphire is 1.5 times lighter than ceramic and 4 times lighter than white gold.

Some of the clasp’s link fastenings are made of 18K gold and can be scratched more easily than sapphire.
