DESCRIPTION

Inspired by the white camellia, Coco Chanel's emblem, "GARDÉNIA and Maisons d'art" is an exceptional, ultra-limited edition coffret that puts the spotlight on Maisons d'art and showcases the demanding, meticulous craftsmanship that plays an essential role in the House of CHANEL's creations.
The centerpiece of the coffret, GARDÉNIA Parfum, is a voluptuous fragrance housed in a 50 ml Baccarat crystal bottle. A display of craftsmanship that dates back to 1764, the bottle is sealed to preserve the purity of the fragrance using the traditional art of baudruchage.
The inside of the coffret is lined with tweed, one of the House of CHANEL’s most iconic materials. Designed and created by Maison Lesage, embroiderer and tweed maker since 1858, its brilliant white colour and touches of spring hues echo the floral freshness of the fragrance.
The tweed lining is studded with camellias created by Maison Lemarié, one of the last remaining feather and floral designers in the world. Every flower is unique. The petals are pressed, cut out by hand, assembled one by one, and then painted with a pattern that resembles the tweed they adorn.

COMPOSITION

Olivier Polge, CHANEL’s In-House Perfumer-Creator, describes GARDÉNIA Parfum as a floral fragrance, a mixed bouquet with hints of jasmine and orange blossoms that leaves an opulent trail.

INSPIRATION

Plucked by Coco Chanel from the lapels of dandy jackets, the white camellia became her emblem. Ever since, it has blossomed anew each season in various House creations. A flower whose perfect shape makes one forget its lack of scent: in 1925, Gabrielle Chanel remedied this by dreaming up a fragrance in its image, which she named GARDÉNIA.

ART OF PERFUMING

Use the end of the intricately sculpted cabochon, cut in the shape of an emerald, to apply the Parfum to the pulse points: behind the ear lobes, on the décolleté and on the inside of the wrists.
