How do I select and apply my signature fragrance?
In order to discover how a particular fragrance reacts with your body chemistry, we recommend that you allow a few hours to fully experience the fragrance and formulation. Fragrances are usually composed of top, middle and base notes. The top note imparts a first impression to your nose; the middle note unfolds a few moments after application of the perfume; and the base, or heart note, is the clinging impression that embraces the wearer for hours. CHANEL has a special way of wearing fragrance called fragrance harmonizing. To fully develop your signature fragrance, we recommend beginning with Bath Soap, Bath Gel or Essential Bath Oils. After the bath, apply luxurious Body Lotion or Body Creme to silken, soften and soothe skin. Then apply After Bath Powder, spray on an invigorating Eau de Toilette and touch Eau de Parfum on pulse points. As Mlle Chanel said, "Perfume should be worn wherever you expect to be kissed."

Are CHANEL products hypoallergenic?
Yes. All CHANEL makeup and skin care products are tested by dermatologists and ophthalmologists to ensure that they're hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic (non-pore-clogging), and safe for people who have sensitive skin or wear contacts. The CE.R.I.E.S. Laboratories have assembled an international panel of women whose skin has been recognized as highly sensitive by dermatologists. PRÉCISION skin care products have all been tested on this panel, and guarantee a very high level of tolerance.

Why are products discontinued?
Each season, CHANEL launches a new Limited Edition colour collection that lends sparkle to the runway shows in Paris. Limited Editions are must-haves for the perfect CHANEL look of the moment, and often we can't keep them on the shelves! But, since CHANEL is a company that is always at the forefront of colour, we have to retire these colours to make room for new, exciting products each season. How do I know which foundation and shade is right for me?
Select the right formula based on the finish and coverage that you desire. CHANEL foundations are available in matte, semi-matte, natural and velvet finishes, with coverage that ranges from sheer to full. Most CHANEL foundations contain sunscreen with a SPF factor of at least 8. For more information on the range of foundations available, visit our Makeup section . When first selecting a foundation, it's best to choose two that match your skin's natural undertone : one that you feel might be shade lighter than your own skin, and one that you feel might be just right. Using a fresh Q-tip, place two stripes along your jaw-line. Wait a full minute for the foundation to disappear, then blend each stripe. The stripe that truly disappears is the correct shade.

What is a pre-order?
Pre-order is the ability to order items that are not yet in stock but available for advance reservation online. What is replenishment?
Chanel.com offers you to register for product replenishment: this allows you to automatically receive the product at the frequency of your choice : 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 or 180 days.

To subscribe, simply select the desired frequency and proceed with checkout. Your first shipment will be processed immediately and your replenishment subscription will be activated.
How do I place a replenishment order?

Broad Spectrum SPF regulations
Have any formulas of Chanel Broad Spectrum products been changed?
No, Chanel products formulas remain the same.
What does Broad Spectrum sunscreen mean?
Broad Spectrum sunscreens protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Sunscreen products that pass the broad spectrum test are allowed to be labeled as Broad Spectrum.
What filters are used in the CHANEL Beauty products?
Both physical and chemical UV filters are used, depending on the desired texture and level of protection. Physical sunscreens are Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, and chemical sunscreens are Octinoxate, Oxybenzone and Avobenzone.
What does Chanel recommend regarding the use of products for sun protection ?
For incidental sun exposure – meaning regular work day with limited exposure to the sun – Chanel recommends using the
Broad Spectrum SPF foundation and skincare products
For long-term sun exposure – meaning more than an hour of sun exposure – Chanel recommends using
UV Essentiel SPF 50
in addition to your regular Beauty products.
Are Chanel Broad Spectrum products water resistant?
Unfortunately, Chanel Broad Spectrum products are not water resistant.
Why did the SPF level for Double Perfection Compact and Perfection Lumière foundations change to SPF 15 when no formula change was made?
These products were re-evaluated with the new FDA SPF testing methods and found to have an SPF 15.
Why does Perfection Lumière claim SPF 10 in the rest of the world and SPF 15 in the US?
In the US, Chanel has to comply with the standards and regulation of the FDA. As the new testing methods confirm an SPF 15, the SPF claim in the US will be different from the rest of world, that is subject to the Global regulation.
Why don’t Chanel products have a higher SPF than 15?
Sun protection is one benefit in Chanel beauty products that helps ensure protection against incidental sun exposure (except for UV Essentiel, which offers an SPF of 50).

What is Haute Couture?
Haute Couture clothing is made to measure for a woman when she orders from a sample of a specific style shown in Paris at the Haute Couture Collection. Ready-to-Wear (Prêt-à-Porter), as opposed to Haute Couture, is just that: ready to wear. These fashions may need alteration, but are immediately available to any customer who wishes to buy them. Only certain fashion houses are allowed by law to use the term Haute Couture. They must present to the press in Paris twice a year a collection of a minimum of 50 pieces, for day and evening. The collection must be made in their own workrooms with 20 or more workers, and they must show the collection in-house, in dedicated salons. What is Chanel's responsibility regarding its supply chain?
CALIFORNIA: TRANSPARENCY IN SUPPLY CHAIN
Chanel, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively “Chanel”) recognize the importance of fair labor practices within our company and our supply chain. Chanel condemns the evils of human trafficking and slavery and understands the importance of eradicating the practices worldwide.
It is our goal that third party suppliers within our supply chain comply with all applicable laws regarding human trafficking and slavery. To this end:
1. Verification of Supply Chain. Chanel is in the process of verifying (with both internal and external auditors) its supply chains to address risks of human trafficking and slavery. Our policy is to work with suppliers that do not use forced labor of any kind. Chanel will not work with any supplier who it determines engages in human trafficking, slavery, or other forms of forced labor.
2. Audits. Chanel conducts selected overall audits of suppliers, including audits regarding conditions of work and notably the use of forced labor. Such audits have been conducted by both internal and external auditors and have been conducted on both an unannounced and announced basis. Some of these audits have been based on the International Standard: Social Accountability 8000.
Chanel has also been certified by the Responsible Jewelry Council (“RJC”), which is an international not-for-profit whose mission is to advance responsible ethical, social and environmental practices with respect to human rights through the jewelry supply chain. RJC’s principles contain the following commitment: “We will not use forced, bonded, indentured or prison labor, nor restrict the movement of employees and dependents.”
3. Supplier Certification. Efforts are made to obtain from direct suppliers certification that the products they are producing for Chanel comply with applicable labor laws. Prohibitions against forced labor and human trafficking are part of our purchase order standard terms and conditions.
4. Accountability. Senior leadership at Chanel, Inc. supports our commitment to fair employment practices. Employees who are responsible for supply chain management shall be held accountable for ensuring that Chanel does not work with suppliers that use forced labor or who engage in human trafficking. In the event of a potential violation of this principle, we would take appropriate remedial action based on the circumstances, including, but not limited to, promptly addressing the issue with the supplier, conducting audits to confirm that the supplier has addressed and remedied any potential violations, and/or terminating our business relationship with the supplier.
5. Training. Chanel, Inc. provides training to its employees with direct responsibility for supply chain management regarding issues of human trafficking and slavery.
