Yes. All Chanel makeup and skincare products are tested by dermatologists and ophthalmologists to ensure that they're hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic (non-pore-clogging), and safe for people who have sensitive skin or wear contacts. The CE.R.I.E.S. Laboratories, whose scientists study the functions of skin, have assembled an international panel of women whose skin has been recognized as highly sensitive by dermatologists.
Chanel fragrance, makeup and skincare samples are provided on a seasonal basis so that our customers may try the latest products. Two complimentary samples are included with each online purchase. Because Chanel is at the forefront of colour, we have to retire certain shades and limited-edition products to make room for new creations and collections each season.

Other products are discontinued for various reasons, such as a change in market demands or Chanel introducing an updated, enhanced product line that effectively replaces an existing line.

Select your formula based on the finish and coverage you desire. Chanel foundations are available in matte, semi-matte, natural and velvet finishes, with coverage that ranges from sheer to full. Most Chanel foundations contain sunscreen with an SPF factor of at least 15. For more information, please visit our Makeup section.

When first selecting a foundation, it's best to choose two shades that match your skin’s natural undertone: one that you feel might be a shade lighter than your skin, and one that you feel might be just right. Using a cotton swab, place two stripes along your jawline. Wait a full minute for the foundation to disappear, then blend each stripe. The stripe that truly disappears is the correct shade.
To discover how a specific fragrance reacts with your body chemistry, we recommend that you allow a few hours to fully experience the scent. Fragrances are composed of top, middle and base notes. The top note imparts a first impression; the middle note unfolds a few moments after application; and the base, or heart note, is the lasting impression that embraces the wearer for hours.

Chanel recommends fragrance layering to fully develop your signature scent. Begin by applying a scented bath soap, bath gel or bath oil. After the bath, apply a body lotion or body cream to soften skin. Then, apply a bath powder, spray on an invigorating Eau de Toilette Spray and touch Eau de Parfum on pulse points. As Gabrielle Chanel said: “Perfume should be worn wherever you expect to be kissed.”

Fragrance & Beauty Replenishment Services

Chanel.com offers product replenishment services that allow you to automatically receive a product at the frequency of your choice: every 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 days until cancelled. Your credit card will only be charged when your product ships and you may cancel your subscription at any time. To subscribe, simply select the desired frequency and proceed with checkout. Your first shipment will be processed immediately and your replenishment subscription will be activated.
When you add a product to your bag, use the drop-down menu to choose your preferred shipment frequency. Continue with the checkout process as usual. If you wish to return products purchased on chanel.com, simply complete the Refund Form on the back of the invoice and choose a Reason for Return. Pack the item(s) to be returned, along with the Return Form in the original package, if possible. Attach the pre-paid mailing label to the outside of your package when making your return. Shipping charges are prepaid and no additional postage is required.

The Chanel Nail trio needs to be returned as a whole, we cannot accept returns of separate nail colors from the trio.

If the order has already shipped, upon receipt of your merchandise, simply attach the prepaid mailing label to the outside of your return package and mail the item(s) back to us. Please allow 7- 10 business days from the time your merchandise is received for your refund to be processed.
A HAZMAT item is a product that contains flammable liquid, in which shipping is restricted to ground shipments only.
Nail Lacquer, Fragrances, and some skincare products are classified as HAZMAT.
If an item is flagged HAZMAT, the only shipping option available is ground.
The complete order will be shipped using ground shipping.

Broad Spectrum SPF regulations

No, Chanel products formulas remain the same.
Broad Spectrum sunscreens protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Sunscreen products that pass the broad spectrum test are allowed to be labeled as Broad Spectrum.
Both physical and chemical UV filters are used, depending on the desired texture and level of protection. Physical sunscreens are Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, and chemical sunscreens are Octinoxate, Oxybenzone and Avobenzone.
For incidental sun exposure – meaning regular work day with limited exposure to the sun – Chanel recommends using the Broad Spectrum SPF foundation and skincare products
For long-term sun exposure – meaning more than an hour of sun exposure – Chanel recommends using UV Essentiel SPF 50 in addition to your regular Beauty products.
Unfortunately, Chanel Broad Spectrum products are not water resistant.
These products were re-evaluated with the new FDA SPF testing methods and found to have an SPF 15.
In the US, Chanel has to comply with the standards and regulation of the FDA. As the new testing methods confirm an SPF 15, the SPF claim in the US will be different from the rest of world, that is subject to the Global regulation.
Sun protection is one benefit in Chanel beauty products that helps ensure protection against incidental sun exposure (except for UV Essentiel, which offers an SPF of 50).

Haute Couture is exclusive custom-fitted clothing that is made to measure. Only certain fashion houses are legally permitted to use the term Haute Couture. These fashion houses must present a collection of 50 or more pieces to the press in Paris twice a year. The collection must be made in their own ateliers and they must show the collection in-house, in dedicated salons.

Haute Couture clothing is produced in the workrooms of CHANEL in Paris, and the samples travel to the U.S. twice per year (by appointment only).

CALIFORNIA: TRANSPARENCY IN SUPPLY CHAIN

Chanel, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively “Chanel”) recognize the importance of fair labor practices within our company and our supply chain. Chanel condemns the evils of human trafficking and slavery and understands the importance of eradicating the practices worldwide.

It is our goal that third party suppliers within our supply chain comply with all applicable laws regarding human trafficking and slavery. To this end:

1. Verification of Supply Chain. Chanel is in the process of verifying (with both internal and external auditors) its supply chains to address risks of human trafficking and slavery. Our policy is to work with suppliers that do not use forced labor of any kind. Chanel will not work with any supplier who it determines engages in human trafficking, slavery, or other forms of forced labor.

2. Audits. Chanel conducts selected overall audits of suppliers, including audits regarding conditions of work and notably the use of forced labor. Such audits have been conducted by both internal and external auditors and have been conducted on both an unannounced and announced basis. Some of these audits have been based on the International Standard: Social Accountability 8000.

Chanel has also been certified by the Responsible Jewelry Council (“RJC”), which is an international not-for-profit whose mission is to advance responsible ethical, social and environmental practices with respect to human rights through the jewelry supply chain. RJC’s principles contain the following commitment: “We will not use forced, bonded, indentured or prison labor, nor restrict the movement of employees and dependents.”

3. Supplier Certification. Efforts are made to obtain from direct suppliers certification that the products they are producing for Chanel comply with applicable labor laws. Prohibitions against forced labor and human trafficking are part of our purchase order standard terms and conditions.

4. Accountability. Senior leadership at Chanel, Inc. supports our commitment to fair employment practices. Employees who are responsible for supply chain management shall be held accountable for ensuring that Chanel does not work with suppliers that use forced labor or who engage in human trafficking. In the event of a potential violation of this principle, we would take appropriate remedial action based on the circumstances, including, but not limited to, promptly addressing the issue with the supplier, conducting audits to confirm that the supplier has addressed and remedied any potential violations, and/or terminating our business relationship with the supplier.

5. Training. Chanel, Inc. provides training to its employees with direct responsibility for supply chain management regarding issues of human trafficking and slavery.
