LAIRD HAMILTON, J12 MARINE AMBASSADOR

Big wave surfer and co-inventor of « tow-in surfing », Laird Hamilton is considered one of surfing's geniuses. This revolutionary American has conquered some of the wildest waves on the planet.

In the 1990s, Laird Hamilton was in fact the first to take on waves previously considered « unsurfable » thanks to the « tow-in » technique: a spectacular method of approaching a wave, enabling the surfer to ride through a tube of foam towed by a jet ski, working up enough speed to attack watery mountains of up to 20 metres.

A veritable « merman », Laird Hamilton is passionate about oceans and protecting all things maritime. His life has been devoted to developing new surf techniques. Still active in sports and the world of maritime adventure, he is hugely respected for his numerous activities in support of the environment and the protection of the oceans. In this sense, his life is quite simply exemplary.

« This watch is the epitome of authenticity, » says an enthusiastic Laird Hamilton. « I have put it to the test in the waves and I can tell you, it's got what it takes! »

In honour of this exciting new partnership, CHANEL is pleased to support the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profitmaking organisation dedicated to research, education, and the enhancement and protection of the oceans.
