The first ceramic Grand Complication in the watchmaking world in 2005, the ceramic and white gold J12 Tourbillon is the perfect blend of the J12's high technology concept and a watchmaking complication that counts among the most difficult to manufacture and the most respected by connoisseurs.
The CHANEL 05-T2 Tourbillon movement is a blend of watchmaking tradition and the high technology of CHANEL's Swiss workshops. Each of its 52 components is rhodium-plated and fashioned by the finest craftsmen.
Beyond its sheer technical prowess, the J12 Tourbillon is also a world first:
Graphically, its design is like no other. The central section, mobile and transparent, known as the "superior tourbillon cage" drives the Tourbillon J12 through one revolution a minute.
Technically, this constitutes a minor revolution, as this is the first time the bottom-plate, which serves to support the movement, has been made of high-tech ceramic, with a 1/100 accuracy, never before achieved in this material. Clearly visible through the crystal glass case-back, this unprecedented bottom-plate adorns the movement, giving it an ultra-contemporary look.
