Forging the alloy
Setting the stones
From the first sketches inspired by the universe of Gabrielle Chanel to the highly detailed artist's drawing of a jewel intended for the workshops, the Creation Studio constantly reinvents the universe of CHANEL Fine Jewellery. CHANEL Fine Jewellery creations are inspired by the boldness expressed in the first CHANEL fine jewellery collection back in 1932, and by the dominant themes that symbolise the brand's identity.
For each design, CHANEL Fine Jewellery's expert gemmologist selects with the greatest care the rarest pieces and the most precious materials through which to inspire the creative process.
The Creation Studio design is transformed into a 3-dimensional model: hand-sculpted, it enables the craftsman to establish the proportions, to ensure it will be comfortable to wear and to anticipate the technical challenges involved.
After the stage of making a wax mould of the model comes the creation of that most precious alloy - gold - through the alchemy of heating nuggets in a crucible to a very high temperature.
Each infinitesimal part of the metal is made to gleam through meticulous polishing, before it is adorned with precious stones in accordance with the design plan. The final stage of setting the diamonds embeds them in the heart of the creation. The initial dream becomes at last a reality.
